The Gambling Prevention Act 2026, in force since 1 July 2026, replaced the Public Gambling Act 1867 and treats operating, participating in and promoting online gambling as offences. An operator holding an overseas licence, such as one issued in Curacao, is regulated in that jurisdiction; that licence does not make online betting lawful inside Bangladesh.
